About Counselling
What is counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy which enables you to learn and understand more about yourself. It will only go at your pace and you bring what you need to bring to the sessions. Counselling is most likely to work if there is trust and respect between the therapist and you. It may be of value during a crisis, or once the crisis has passed. It can help you stay well or help you notice when you are under pressure.
"It was someone listening to me without judging me, really listening to my problems that enabled me to see them in a different way."
We will meet a once a week at a regular time. We will explore together how experiences or aspects of yourself lead you to ways of behaving or relating to other people.
What conditions can it help?
Counselling can help with many issues including: personal emotional or relationship difficulties, eating disorders, addictions, health or disability anxieties, menopause, anxiety, depression, phobias, panic attacks and work-related stress.
What benefits can be expected?
The benefits of counselling are widespread and derive from a sense of being free to choose how you behave. This comes about as a result of increased self-awareness. You will find, in time, that your stress levels reduce, decisions can be made more easily and you can give up behaviours which no longer serve you and you will feel able to make more fulfilling choices. |
